The project: JANEEV Maharashtra Times had identified 12 deserving students who had scored more than 90% marks in the 10th standard but have very poor financial background. They has appealed to the public to donate for the students' future educational expenses. The club decided to contribute to the cause. Totally, 27 members contributed. 3 contributed Rs. 5000/- each, 3 contributed Rs. 2000/- each and the rest 22 contributed Rs. 1000/- each. Thus, the total contribution was Rs. 43000/-. President Sharad's friend Mr. Maruti Kusalkar contributed Rs. 5000/-. My 8 friends (Kalyan Banerjee, Sanjay Desai, George Philip, Bipin Bhatia, Uday Kamath, Madhusudan Rao, Pravin Ponnuri, Madhu Nair) contributed Rs. 1000/- each making the total contribution Rs. 56000/-. Club added Rs. 4000/-. We handed over cheques of Rs. 10000/- each to SIX deserving students. The names were suggested by Mr. Parag Karandikar, Resident Editor, M.T. These students had received little less amount compared to others. The cheques were handed over on 7th August. यंदा दहावीला ९० टक्के वा त्याहून अधिक गुण मिळवूनही केवळ बिकट आर्थिक परिस्थितीमुळे शिक्षणाची वाट खुंटण्याची भीती आहे. खडतर परिस्थितीशी झुंजत दहावीच्या परीक्षेत खणखणीत यश मिळविणाऱ्या विद्यार्थी-विद्यार्थिनींना पुढील शिक्षणाचे आभाळ मोकळे करणारा , त्यांच्या पंखांना बळ देणारा ' महाराष्ट्र टाइम्स ' चा हा उपक्रम. समाजाच्या दातृत्वाची साक्ष देणाऱ्या उपक्रमाचा लाभ गरजू विद्यार्थ्यांना व्हावा यासाठी क्लब मधील सर्वांना आवाहन करून आम्ही सर्व जण समाजातील आर्थिक दृष्ट्या गरीब विद्यार्थ्यांच्या कर्तुत्वाला रोटरी क्लबच्या दातृत्वाने साथ/दाद देण्याचा छोटासा प्रयत्न करत आहोत. महाराष्ट्र टाईम्स, पुणे चे मुख्य संपादक पराग करंदीकर यांनी आमच्या क्लबचे हे छोटेसे दान (रु.६०,०००/- रु. साठ हजार फक्त) स्वीकारून उल्लेखलेल्या गरजू विध्यार्थ्यांपर्यंत ही मदत पोहोचविण्याचे मान्य केले.
